Our fortnightly rag rug coffee morning in Hertfordshire is something I really look forward to every month. It’s a lovely way to spend a couple of hours chatting with other rag ruggers, getting advice and feedback on your latest rag rug project, and of course having a nice cuppa and a biscuit or two!
When you first learn how to rag rug, you’re full of inspiration, with a vision of creating something spectacular. And like with anything in life, if you don’t regularly commit your time to it, it just doesn’t get done. This is one of the reasons I started the fortnightly coffee morning, for my rag rug students to come along, hone their skills and to give them the motivation, space and time to complete their projects. Plus, I’d probably be rag rugging anyway, so it’s better to do it in good company!
Of course, when like-minded people get together, there are always lots of great (and funny) conversations, craft related and not. Our regulars have become friends and are very welcoming to newbies too! So why not come along and make the commitment to finish a piece? Whether it’s your first or your 50th, you’re very welcome here.
Here’s everything you need to know…
What?
The rag rug coffee morning is open to anyone who has attended a Ragged Life workshop or who has bought a Ragged Life kit. In other words, some rag rug experience is necessary.
Where?
It takes place at our Ragged Life HQ in Great Wymondley, Hertfordshire in our cosy studio space. We’re based in the beautiful grounds of Delamere House, so travelling to the rag rug coffee morning feels like a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. For full directions on how to find us, email elspeth@raggedlife.com
When?
The coffee morning takes place every other Thursday morning from 10am – 12pm. However, you don’t need to come for the full two hours if you’re busy, you can drop in for however much time you can spare on the day.
How much?
It costs just £2 and includes unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits.
Other rag rug coffee morning FAQs:
Q1: Is there parking?
Yes, there is plenty of parking on site.
Q2: What should I bring along?
Bring along your current rag rug project, along with tools and materials. However, if you do forget anything, we have more rag rug tools on site.
Q3: Can I buy rag rug materials like hessian there?
Yes, as the coffee morning is at our Ragged Life HQ, we have plenty of hessian, tools and blanket yarn around for you to buy if you need them.
Q4: What if I need help with a project?
Definitely come along and we’ll be happy to offer advice. However, we won’t be full-on teaching in the coffee morning, it’s our time for relaxation too 🙂
How to get involved:
To register interest in our rag rug coffee morning, simply follow the below steps. This doesn’t mean that you’re committed to coming to every coffee morning, it just means that you’ll receive all the relevant information if you do decide to come along 🙂
- Join the Rag Rug Coffee Morning Mailing list here. This is so we can let you know if the coffee morning is on that week (sometimes we have to switch up dates if I’m at a big fair).
- Add hello@raggedlife.com to your email safe sender list, so our emails don’t end up in your spam. You can read how to do that here.
- Email hello@raggedlife.com to let us know when you’ll first be coming along and what your level of experience is. We’ll send you over directions to the venue.
And finally, here are a few pics of the coffee morning crew…
Our Christmas coffee morning with mulled wine and mince pies… yum!
