Rag Rug Making Workshop in South London

Rag Rug Making Workshops in South West London:

Last week I ran my first Rag Rug Making Workshop at Le Salon Privé restaurant in St. Margaret’s. If you’re struggling to picture where St. Margaret’s is, it’s slap bang between Richmond and Twickenham 🙂

I turned up there nice and early on the day and Gianfranco, the chef and part owner of the restaurant, got me settled in. The class took place in the private dining space of the restaurant and boy were we in for a treat. The room was even grander than I remember – sophisticated decor with a lovely statement fireplace (which needless to say we didn’t make use of given the crazy heatwave last week!) Not only was the setting great, but we were treated to homemade palmiers and biscuits throughout the day and a slap up steak frites lunch.

I taught four lovely ladies how to rag rug and had such a great time. I really can’t wait to see their creations (we had some beautiful fabrics and intriguing ideas on the day) and came away from the day feeling wonderfully inspired.

Live in London, Surrey, Berks or Bucks? You can book onto any of my upcoming Rag Rug Making workshops at Le Salon Privé here. They run 10:00-16:00, include lunch and refreshments and are an absolute riot. Hopefully see some of you there!

The Table Set up for a Rag Rug Making Workshop at Salon Prive in St Margarets

I always like to get to my workshops nice and early so I can set things up exactly how I like them. I brought plenty of my rag rug pieces along to show the students.

When I was setting up for the workshop, it felt even more like laying a table than normal as we were in an actual restaurant.

Lots of Rag Rug Creations on Display at the Rag Rugging Workshop at Le Salon Privé restaurant

Salon Privé is the most decadent venue I think I’ve ever run a rag rug workshop in – beautiful gold mirrors and French design pieces. (Cringey cameo of me with my rag rug headband on in the mirror there!)

And I can’t wait to see their finished rag rug pieces!

p.s. Aneeta and Sunita have since finished their rag rug wreaths which you can see fully finished here.
